Seismic Interpreter
Overall Purpose of Role:
Responsible for performing geological and geophysical interpretation on seismic data, impedance inversion data, or pre and post-stack attribute data, as necessary. Also may be required to build and refine earth models from a combination of well, seismic, geological, EM and other potential fields data types. This role will be based in Houston, TX.
Key Accountabilities:
- Managing your own projects, including time deadlines and resources: Responsible for managing multiple (concurrent) projects effectively within agreed parameters
- Ensuring that quality control standards are met for processing, modeling and reporting activities
- Acting as client interface for project work: Liaising effectively with colleagues and clients to ensure that expectations and deliverables for quality and service are met or exceeded
- Writing project reports: producing final reports that meet agreed client and company expectations and standards
- Making presentations to the client: conveying information and ideas in a clear, timely and meaningful manner
- Learning and becoming proficient in new software programs that may be required to complete project work
- Working in a team environment: working well with colleagues as part of a diverse or multi-disciplinary group to achieve common goals; mentoring and supporting co-workers
- Carrying out other duties and tasks as are reasonable and within the scope, purpose and grade of the job, as may be determined from time to time by the Processing & Interpretation Manager
- Being fully compliant with Health & Safety responsibilities, at all times taking reasonable steps to ensure their own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by their actions; co-operating with the company in terms of meeting legal Health & Safety obligations

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
Essential:
- BSc or equivalent in a related geo-science discipline (geology, physics or geophysics) or mathematics
- A minimum of 3 years experience in visualization and analysis of 3D seismic data in domestic and international deep-water settings with focus on interpretation of AVO and impedance inversions
- A minimum of 3 years mapping and interpretation experience
- Working knowledge and experience with visualization software
- Working knowledge and experience with model-building software
- Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative with minimal direct supervision
- Good communication skills; able to interact effectively with clients and colleagues at all levels
- Effective report writing skills that meet both internal and external quality standards
- Good analytical skills; high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated and resourceful; able to work on own initiative, applying appropriate theory and practical solutions to problems
- Commitment to the standards and values of the company and the role
Desirable:
- MSc in a related geo-science discipline (geology, physics or geophysics) or mathematics
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a relevant field – geo-sciences, oil-related or seismic imaging processing
- Previous experience in fractured shale plays (Marcellus etc) and resource assessments (gas hydrates, CBM) an advantage
- Basic knowledge of tectonics, sequence stratigraphy and geomorphology are considered helpful
