Facies Models - Solutions
Challenge

The construction of static earth models for reservoir management purposes are generally based on petro-facies descriptions of the log data that are distributed spatially using geostatistical tools. In areas where there are few wells and where reservoirs are spatially heterogeneous, seismic facies are often required to augment or replace geostatistical methods.

RSI Solutions

We offer a range of technology designed to address these challenges including:

  • LITHANN produces seismic facies models using supervised and unsupervised (Kohonen Self-Organizing Maps) artificial neural networks.
  • ATTRIB3D provides more than 70 Hilbert Transform seismic attributes that may be input to LITHANN.
  • Seismic Inversion may also be used to calculate impedance attributes for input to LITHANN
  • iMOSS may be used to employ rock physics modeling to determine the optimum suite of attributes from which to generate seismic facies.
